Knowing Grape Vine Diseases and How to Combat them
Grapes are simply delicious fruits. They may not be the cheapest but they sure are good. Because of this, many people crave grapes almost every day. If you want to master the process of growing grapes, you need to immerse yourself in all aspects concerning this fruit. Remember, growing and cultivating is just one part. No man, plant and no fruits are exempted from diseases. They will hound you wherever you go. One misstep in the maintenance of your health and you will get bitten by one of those diseases. There are different kinds of grape vine diseases that can hit your vines during their lifetime. A. Let’s get started with Sanitation.
Simply put, sanitation is the process of removing dead parts of your grapevine. Doing this will in turn, prevent the disease from spreading out to other parts of your grape plant.
B. Now let’s go to culturing.
Culture is the process of using methods for maintenance purposes on the health of your grape plant through the right way of planting, pruning, fertilizing and using way that will keep stress to a minimum for the vines.

D. Last but not the least, Resistance.
In simple terms, resistance is the process of choosing or planting species that have genetically developed to be immune to certain diseases. This in turn lowers the likelihood of the disease spreading towards other parts of the vines.

a. Bacterial Diseases
b. Fungal Diseases
For bacterial diseases, we have the following:
A. Bacterial blight (bacterial necrosis)
B. Crown gall
C. Pierce’s disease
And for the Fungal Diseases, we have the following listed below:

D. Angular leaf spot
E. Mycosphaerella angulata
F. Cercospora brachypus [anamorph]
G. Anthracnose and bird’s-eye rot

J. Armillaria root rot (shoestring root rot)
K. Armillaria mellea
L. Rhizomorpha subcorticalis [anamorph]
M. Aspergillus rot Aspergillus niger
